Polaris Fun Facts
Size- Polaris is really much larger then we see it here on earth. So why is that? Well our FOV or field of vision is so far away that to us it seems like just a little dot, when in all reality it isn't even close to that small
Directions?- Polaris isn't called the North star for nothing. Explorers, travelers, pirates. What do these groups of people all have in common? These people all used the north star as their guide. Polaris or the North star points exactly north, but you shouldn't throw away that compass just yet because Polaris is very slowly shifting out of being directly north.
There are two easy ways to find Polaris in the sky. One way is to find the Big Dipper (Ursa Major) and follow the last two dots that make up the scoop until you see a fairly bright star. Another way is to find the last star in the handle of the Little Dipper (Ursa Minor).
